Fellow Indie Society Members,
It is my honour to give the grand (and official) introduction of…
Yes! That is right! Insomnia! Our maiden band and club night!
Details
Where: Hop and Grape (i.e. Academy 3)
When: Saturday 28th January
Time: 9pm until 4am
Price: £8 for total access to ‘Pangaea’
Almost as soon as the doors open, the first of four bands will kick the night off. Our opening band have yet to be confirmed, but keep your eyes peeled for an announcement. Once they have kicked events off, they will be swiftly followed by The Pedestrians, Crosbi and then the band night will be rounded off by Performance. I’m sure you’ll agree, the bands will be very exciting!
BUT WAIT! There is more…
As soon as the curtains close on these fantastic acts, we will enter into the club night, which will run shortly after midnight until 4 o’clock in the morning! And, of course, being the Indie Society, the music is … indie! We also will bring a touch of rock, alternative electronica and punk to the festivities.
Insomnia is part of a grander scheme of things called ‘Pangaea’ – you may have seen it advertised already. It is the Official End-of-Exam party for the entire university. For one night, all of the Union will be redecorated and given a totally different look. There will be live diablo, live drummers and live graffiti. There will be 15 DJs, 10 bands, 9 rooms, 5 bars, 4 floors and dancing groups. Musical genres will span the entire range – as well as indie, punk, alternative electronica and rock there will also be dance, techno, house, trance, R’n’B, bangra, dub, hip hop, drum & bass, samba, jazz, funk and soul in other parts of the Union. Events in the Union other than Insomnia include Global Beats, a Cabaret, The Lighthouse, Dubriddor, The Bibliotechnival, The Groove, a Casino and a Tea Tent which will also supply food and wine. The whole thing will be an excellent extravaganza with something to offer everyone. Be warned, the night is going to be a big event, so get your foot in the door early. This night is touted as the biggest and best the UMSU has ever seen and it is not worth missing.
As further details become available, they will be posted here so remember to check regularly for updates.
Until then, I am the Indie Society's humble servant,
Rob
I thought you'd might like to check the bands out we currently have. What does everyone think?
