Oooh, you lot are in for a treat. We might have a little extra surprise lined up for the evening, but of course, nothing's confirmed yet. The night is going to be so good. I demand that you tell every single person you know. I want every student in Manchester with an NUS card (and that's all of them!) to be clamouring for tickets. Between friends, we're hoping that our little bit of the whole night will steal the show from the other rooms; The main event is some drum&bass night in Academy 2, but we all know that the actual fun and shenannigans will be happening in Academy 3, in our little sanctuary of indie. We want to make this night so good that you will tell your friends back home. That you tell Freshers about it. That you recommend it to your friends at uni and laugh at them for not going. And it will be this good. The cogs are in motion for an epic evening, with the SU full of people, with cheap music, great music (although unfortunately it's not completely consistently good ), and a fantastic atmosphere. It's going to be the end of exams party. We want this to be the exam party that people talk about. This is run by the students for the students. We're not gimmicky like Torremolinos (which runs in July at the end of summer exams, and is quite, quite tacky, although strangely popular), and tickets are selling fast. If you have friends who aren't at Manchester Uni, I highly suggest you recommend the night to them! You all have floors for them to crash on. Bring sleeping bags; the name of our night is insomnia for a reason. Anyone with an NUS card can go, but make sure you get your tickets well in advance; i certainly can't guarantee tickets available on the door. Anyway, hope you enjoyed reading that little essay. Just thought I'd stir up even more interest now everyone is full of Festive cheer Ta -Ben

I *think* you only need a NUS card to get the ticket... I don't think they are checking the doors for them. You could get one on his behalf with your NUS card.

Now, don't quote me on this, but I think it's the other way round; I think you can buy tickets without NUS but they'll be checking on the door. Of course, i could be wrong again. They may check twice, on purchase and on the door, or they may just do random checks on the door. Also, yeah it will be union prices all night in all the bars. I hope they don't gradiate the bar prices, and they do them uniformally, else certain bars will become more popular than others.

haha i feel flattered that people care. Sure, why not? Andrew's birthday is on the 15th, so I'll probably be doing something as a joint party, but I don't know yet. I think the Committee are going to dress up as smartly as possible; dress to impress and all that. Hope it works...!

peds got mentioned in the telegraph today as an up and coming band, which i thought was cool i saw a peformance review in the nme which said something along the lines of they would either be quite successful or end up in a bargain bin. as for dress code for pangaea, it would be great to see the whole indie soc dressed up in their most snazzy outfits...it'll look great on the photos if nothing else.
