As you may know, I am not much of a football fan. But, you may or may not know I like having a bet. So, I am organising a world cup sweeps. I already have 7/8 people involved and I am looking for people to bump the total number of participants up to 16.
It is £5 to join in and you get two football teams. The money from the pot goes entirely to the person who has been drawn the winning world cup nation. That means on top of getting your stake back, you win £75. Lovely, no?
Who is interested? Please let me know.

Sure, when *is* the draw taking place?

Well, do you need to be in my presence for the draw or can you trust me? I'll be happy to draw it when there are 16 people and then inform everyone...
So, so far another 5 to add to the list? Good, good. I think this takes the list up to a possible 13... only another three required. I'll ask more people on my course...

OK, since there are two main groups involved here (chem eng and indie soc) I think the best way is for me to randomly number all the teams between 1 and 32. Everyone can choose two numbers between these (depending on whether they have been taken or not) and then, voila! Since I am numbering, I'll take the two remaining teams. How does that sound? I still need maybe two more people so please ask around.

So I'm in, right? That sounds like a good way, and Rob managed to fix the room-choice thing for me. Brazil and Germany, right?

I said I'd probably be up for it. As it is, I fell asleep in my bed at 10, after having been to 11 pubs in a matter of hours. You're a cunter cos you didn't go see guillemots, fool!

Right-oh, let's have a look at the list (I think it is full now)... in fact it is:
1. Me (Rob)
Indie Soc participants 2. Simon 3. Chris 4. Ben 5. McV 6. Nat 7. Mark 8. Craig 9. Arron
Chem Eng participants 10. Arran 11. Carwyn 12. Jonny 13. Sarah 14. Graham 15. Charlie 16. Charlie's housemate
OK, this is how it will work. When you give me £5, you can choose two numbers. Those numbers will correspond to a team. I tell you your teams. I take the remaining two teams at the end. If the number you have thought of is already taken, you must choose another and so on until you pick one that is unallocated. Whoever has the winning world cup team gets their stake and £75. That OK?
As I said, give me a fiver and choose your numbers... no money, no picking...
EDIT: Numbers are 1 to 32, if you don't know.

Urgh! No thanks. A one off thing is good enough for me. I don't think I'd choose football. I played fantasy parliament for three months once. Pick three people (not necessarily politics) and get a point for every day they are in headlines for a set amount of time...
No bagsy, Ben. If you want first pick, get the fiver to me first...

so Rob, seen as Chris hasn't payed you, why dont you take those teams? As was your idea originally and the fact that you haven't got any now and you've organised it.
