Hello everyone!
What a night!
I gotta say, I had lots of fun, and thank you everyone who turned up. The evening was a true success and I can confidently say that we trounced the [RAW] room. Congratulations Indie Soc!
Please post here with memories of the evening and any suggestions as to how we can make club nights even better in future.
Photos soon.

ROCK!!- loads of rubbish covers by mediocre bands (with the occasional great one, admittedly)
INDIE!!- Arctic Monkeys! Pulp! INDIE!
I think I know who won...
(For me, It was the Reel Big Fish version of take on me that swung it to the RAW side)

eergh, i dont know what im saying right now, wayyyy to drunk to type, but what a night! SFA, manics, just about everything i wanted! it was fucking brilliant! im sorry i missed your set lisa, im sure it was great too! whenever i went into the rock room (mostly because they had no southern comfort in the indie room) it seemed to be virtaually empty with crap music. i think we won!

oooh you're implying that there'll BE a next time.....
which there WILL cos it was fucking brilliant!!! well done everyone who helped organise and promote it and thanks to everyone who came. it was even a financial success which we never expected, which means we now have a bit of money to make indie soc events even better for you lot. which is fab incentive for us to make the next night just as good....well, provided we're allowed to do another night, and also provided RAW fancy a rematch. cos we clearly won that round...

as for taking requests in advance i still don't see the harm. it's not like any dj could possibly play all the requests they get on a night either. and at least this way you can make sure you actually own some of the songs and it gives a good idea of what people want in advance. what did everyone think of the music? next time we probably need more anthems...that seemed to be the problem...but at the same time i think we were trying to play stuff that you don't hear everywhere. do you think the balance was right? we wanna make it good for you lot so how could we improve? ( i tried to play electioneering but bens version wouldn't work. love the way we played ideoteque after saying no...but it was great anyway!) also, appologies for the slight repetition of a few songs. see the funny side now and we'll sort it out for next time!

To be true I enjoyed more the rock room, because I knew more songs there than in the indie one! So I'm sorry to say that the balance wasn't good (from my point of view) And I have to say that I have my preferences in the dj staff, but I will take that secret to my grave (do you say that in English??) Anyway I had fun most of time. Thanx for that

Don't lie about being stuck in the rock room, I saw you headbanging to metallica and pantera! We'll make a metalhead of you yet, my boy. Apart from paul being a lying whore, it was much fun! (I'm joking, by the way, Paul's not really a whore. Although he is a closet iron maiden fan, as was proven last night).

i'm not speaking to anyone because electioneering wasnt played.
but aside from that i had an ace time. especialyl when they played a rock version of "i believe i can fly" and "take on me"... take me on..!
haha! also, my head really hurts now becuase of those tequila vodka slush things. they have made my head into a cement mixer filled with diamonds. and perhaps a little mushy peas.
ooooh an ace ace night. even the security guy was nice to me. he told me he'd done me a favour by not chucking me out after dancing on those gay sexy pole things

how do u constitute a victory?? i kept changing rooms - not in a llywellyn-bowen stylee, though - and u both played muse - time is running out and sometimes its only right to bang one's head, even though i don't do it that often... as for the population of each room - i'd say it was fairly equal... i was fairly miffed when the "rock" room tried to tell me that the datsuns were indie... does anyone have a view on this? i reckon that even though the datsuns did gain a lot of nme coverage for their 1st alb - thus making them indie in a sense - their style of music is surely what they should be judged on - and that is trying to mimic ac/dc, etc - making them very much at one with the "rock" society --> they played fookin blink 182 for fook's sake, and then they tell me that the datsuns aren't "rock" enough for them..... ok - for that - i spose i've realised what constitutes a victory - indie wins --> tho i may change my mind based on the lack of anything by the longcut......
