I'm going to be a volunteer in this festival (in Cornerhouse), so I hope that you all come arround to some screenings (and to see me, why don't?). The films are really interesting and it is a great opportunity for those Language students, (specially one, we all know who I am talking about...) that want to improve their knowledge in Spanish

¡Viva! is almost a distant memory, but for those of you that are having withdrawals already you might find the following two items of interest:
Just arrived in the Cornerhouse Bookshop: Pedro Almodóvar's screenplay of VOLVER.
Following the film's release in Spain last week, Cornerhouse is proud to be the ONLY place in the U.K. that you can buy the screenplay of the new Pedro Almodóvar film VOLVER (which Pathé will release in the UK on 25 August). The screenplay includes stills from the film and production photos. Be the first to read the film in anticipation of its release.
VOLVER finds the director returning to his roots in an intimate portrait of a handful of women on the verge. in a Castilla-La Mancha village. Crushed by sun and sadness, they retain a spark of life even as they are marked by death. (Translated from the review on http://www.elmundo.es). The ensemble cast sees the return of Penélope Cruz and Carmen Maura, plus Almodóvar newcomers Lola Dueñas (THE SEA INSIDE) and Yohana Cobo.
Booking Now: Wed 21 Apr, 7.50pm: THE THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIADES ESTRADA + SPECIAL GUEST SCREENWRITER GUILLERMO ARRIAGA.
Cannes 2005-winning screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga (AMORES PERROS, 21 GRAMS) will be answering questions from the audience following this screening. Arriaga's novel The Night Buffalo (soon to be made into a film) is available in our bookshop for £7.99. The author will be signing copies after the Q&A. Tickets: £6.00 full / £4.50 concs. All other screenings at normal ticket prices.
