I didn't see them last week, but saw them supporting Bloc Party, and didn't really think that much of them to be honest.

Do they sound any different to loads of other bands around at the moment? Not really. Do they have anything that makes them better than any of those bands that they sound like? Not really. If you are a huge fan of that type of music will you like them? Obviously. Does that make them a good band? NO! Yeah, I'm a snob

worse than that, you're prejudiced.

And proud of it. (Sorry)
Is it really that bad to dislike music that sounds like music that I dislike though? It's not even that though, I have listened to them and don't like them. I'm not basing my dislike on the fact that they sound like music that I dislike. Basically what I am trying to say is that I dislike them, and the main reason for that isn't any kind of prejudiced or snobbish bullshit, it's just because I don't actually like their music. I may come across as snobbish and prejudiced, but I don't think I am that bad, because I rarely make judgement without hearing a band, and I like a lot of bands that I should probably dislike if I was prejudiced.
Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone, but oh well.

To be honest I can kind of agree with that I disike lots of music (especially on first listening) that I really try hard to like, and would have no prejudice against. It is possible, but people are quite judgmental themselves so sometimes they disagree when you say 'I just don't like how it sounds'. But it's not a crime.

i'm getting really pissed off with derby at the minute, and to an extent the rest of the nation all i keep hearing about komakino is "joy division cover-band". which is bollocks. komakino write some damn good songs, and if we compared every band to their predecessors no one would ever get anywhere! so if anyone tries that be warned but that's fair enough if you don't like them, however wrong you are

but Welsh, you had already written off Kong, for example, before you saw them, from Alex's description. And now you like them. It just occurs to me that prejudice may have meant you wouldn't listen to it and you would have missed out had Alex not made you go to the gig..

SO THERE WAS NO NEED FOR THIS POST! It was blatent flaming and there's absolutely no need.
