Hello, my name's Elliot and I live in the Whitworth park area. I play guitar....quite badly...guess I'm rhythm at best. I've also been experimenting with keyboards recently, sampling things to create unsettling ambient soundscapes, that sort of thing, you know? I write a lot of words too.
Anyway, I want to start a band that in future years will be compared to the likes of King Crimson and Pink Floyd. Yes, I like prog rock. I want to start a band that will progress music. The sound I have in mind is like a combination between the cosmics (Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, Spiritualized) and the industrialists (Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Martin Grech)...something very futuristic you know?
Is anyone interested? If you are, and you play any instrument at all....any at all! ANYTHING! Let me know. The revolution starts here.

U into pure reason revolution then? sounds like a well-layed out plan u got there - i'd love to hear the final product.... i'm a guitarist of about 5 years but i don't think i'm good enough for that kind of project.... yet....

I'm a guitarist of 2-3 years. Believe me, you're at least 700% better than I am.
Oceansize, I've heard a bit. The complex arrangements are there, the epic grandeur, the tempo changes....it's just that the whole thing sounds a bit too EMO. I much prefer The Mars Volta!
I just bought the following CDs:
Yes - Close to the Edge Genesis - Trespass King Crimson - Lark's Tongue in Aspic
So in the eyes of the NME I'm no longer cool. That obviously makes me double cool. Glad I am that the NME would consider me a loser, you must understand, I REALLY hate the godawful angular post punk they're peddling today. It all sounds the same. Paul Epworth is just as bad as Simon Cowell/Pete Waterman. They're all ruining music!
Wake me up when NME obsess over bands that actually try something new.

I like prog rock, perhaps I could help. I like my tool, floyd, dream theatre, king crimson, threshold etc. I've been playing guitar forever and everyday.

Is there anybody out there willing to drum/bass/keyboard/violin? *hand up* i'll do keyboard! i'm officially grade five standard but i was about to take my grade 6 when the teacher moved away, and i've not played much since, but it's not anything i've lost. and oceansize are NOT emo, where does everyone get this bizarre idea from?!

i played violin to grade 6, but unfortunately still havent got past that squeaky stage. its so much harder to play violin than any other instrument, without sounding like a practising 8-year-old. i play piano much much better, but there seems to be a lot of offers already.
i would say i play the drums (becuase they're really cool and i can keep *one* beat) but i won't

Trumpet? Two words SKA BAND! not at all. loads of non-ska bands have trumpets. maybe not on every track, but they appear all the time in rock music. i am actually quite enthusiastic about it, but i dont have an instrument. maybe i could join the orchestra or something...
