Hi everyone. I'm currently racking my brains to think of what kind of information would make reading this introduction most interesting. My name is Nick, and i've been living in Manchester for ages, which is okay though, because i do rather like the place. My favourite places, at least for nights out, include room 4 in Rockworld, the Star & Garter (for Smiths nights & Smile), and some of the nights at the Retro Bar (particularly Killing Fantasy and Indigo). My favourite bands include Weezer, Bright Eyes, Grandaddy, Rilo Kiley, The Shins, Idlewild, Placebo, and Nada Surf, amongst others. If anyone can identify from which song i've taken my on screen name, i'll be very impressed.

Placebo > most things.
Bright Eyes > lots. (in agreement with Simon though, Conor Oberst is a bit wankeresque.)

Conor is incredible, but he's way too happy. when i saw him, i wanted him to be as sad as his songs were, but he wasn't, he was happy, smiling, joking and thanking the crowd. It's probably because he was fucking Jenny from Rilo Kiley. I wish i was she's beautiful

he wasn't happy when I saw him...
...he was however, completely off his face.

I say he's a bit wankeresque because frankly some of the things he says make him out to be an insensitive arsehole.
Still absolutely adore him, though.

i like grandaddy. lots.
ben ruined bright eyes with his constant "serenading" to me on his guitar. i would possibly have liked it otherwise.

I feel quite proud to have started such a popular thread! I met Conor Oberst once, at a relatively secret gig at the Barfly in London, and i have to say i really liked him. His whole on-stage personality can seem really different from one night to the next, which i think is largely down to varying volumes of alcohol/other various substances. He also seems to get really nervous sometimes, and sometimes seems a little scared of his rather fanatical followers. I'm pleased to see his music sems rather popular on here. What's your favourite Bright Eyes album then?

Fevers And Mirrors gets my vote too. It's the only one where i've never felt inclined to skip any songs, and that's always a good thing i think. Letting Off The Hapiness is the best for that rather suicidal vibe it has though. I think they at least some amazing songs. I'm Wide Awake It's Morning and Lifted are both a bit inconsistent though. I do like Digital Ash.. alot too mind. Of the EP's, Every Day And Every Night stands out a bit for me.

Ooh, I actually don't know. I know a lot of people say Wide Awake is a bit inconsistent, but I absolutely love it. It's definitely a tie between that and Fevers for me.
If anyone wants to buy me Fevers by the way, feel free - I seriously doubt I'll ever get that, and indeed most of my CD collection, back from my friend newly emigrated to Australia....

I probably would've said Fevers or Wide Awake was my favourite before I went to Glastonbury, but when I saw him, he only played Digital Ash stuff (and Lover I Don't Have To Love, yay!) and even though he was acting a big bastard, musicially he was completely spot on...been addicted to Digital Ash ever since!

oh he is...he's SO good! But i found it really difficult to enjoy his set at the time, what with him acting a complete knob and all...not the best way to end my Glastonbury...

You may have noticed an ever so slight increase in the amount i've been on this board this past week. This is not because i've become obsessed with the internet or anything, just that i'm doing an admin job at mmu, where i never have any work to do, and i have constant internet access, which i've been taking full advantage of to pass the time. However, this is my ast day, so my visits may become considerably more fleeting
