Hello, my name is Jaimy, I'm a fresher and I'm studying English Literature and Film Studies. I am loving Manchester so far. Sorry I haven't been able to attend any of the meetings so far. I feel Ive been a bit out of the loop and a lot of the places mentioned I haven't a clue where they are. However, in the first 2 weeks of being here I went to 5th ave 7 times! We don't have anything like it back in Reading (where I come from - despite the festival of course!) I then discovered 42's and to be honest I do prefer it to 5th ave but its slightly less convenient to get to. Other than that I've just been hanging out in Troff (in Fallowfield), its got a really cool, chilled vibe and the open mike nights have been pretty good. Ok, music talk (it only seems appropriate). One of the main reasons I came to Manchester is for the music scene. I saw the Editors, The Go Team and The Dandy Warhols, all have been completely different experiences but a blast! I love Radiohead, Interpol, Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Blur, The White Stripes..and many more. I was priveleged enough to see 3 of the above at Glastonbury this year...fucking awsome! Ok, well I am quite capable of rambling on for hours but I think I will stop now...hopefully we will eventually meet :-)
P.S. I dont understand, why does it say James Blunt's Lovechild under my name? I dont like James Blunt :-(

The James Blunt thing is so that it encourages you to post. It's your post ranking. The more you post, it'll change depending on your post count. You only need to post 3 more times to stop being James Blunt's lovechild I like Trof. It it were slightly bigger, I'd hijack it for all indie society meetings ever. Anyway, good to have you here!

I saw Kings of Leon at Leeds this year while waiting for the Foos, and as someone who hasn't been a particularly big fan of them, i was really surprised to enjoy them, their "rockier"" stuff is really good gig music, especially songs like Molly's Chamber
