Hello Everyone
If you haven't got the e-mail here is a little notice about Monday.
We are meeting in Jebez Clegg at 8pm. Not only shall we share a quiet drink but the membership cards are here, which I am assured are "fantastic". So, come and get 'em.
Also, Ben says,
"If you're very lucky, we may also have lots of badges to hand out, as they are on order and may or may not (depending on Royal Mail) be here for Monday. If not, never fear! We have another event in December, on Wednesday 7th [Bowling]"
Please note that the Jebex Clegg Monday meet is a new regular addition to the Indie Soc calender. We'll meet every Monday at 8pm.
Hope to see plenty of you there!

Tom, you may be thinking of Joshua Brooks, which is very close to 5th Ave. Jabez Clegg is right near the student union, just on Dover Street. It's free to get to Jabez Clegg and thus you have no reason not to be there Nat SPEND SPEND SPEND WE ARE A CONSUMER SOCIETY! but we'll give you something back, promise!

should we meet in the union bar, then head over as a group, so we all know whats going on there?

probably not a good idea, given how many people have read the email - I'm going to go to Jabez Clegg a bit early though, to see what's going on. If things go a bit tits up, comme The Bruins Disaster, then we can relocate, but I think things should be fine. Jabez Clegg won't have bands downstairs, because there's nowhere to play, so i doubt they'd charge for you to get into the main bar

i didnt actually realise there was an upstairs there! it should all be ok then. im still gutted about bruins closing. now i have to go all the way up to the salisbury to get a good pint (unless you know somewhere else closer), and its more expensive there. and they play crap music. maybe i should try to be less fussy about what i drink. i am a student now

heh. i have boycotted the sailsbury since they were wankers to two of my friends who worked there. One of them, a vegan, had a pig's head shoved in her face at hallowe'en, and then they sacked her. The other was her girlfriend and they sacked her/she quit the day afterwards. I can't think of anywhere closer that does good drinks, except for perhaps Harry's Bar usually has a couple of good Guest Ales. Only £2 a pop which is cheaper than the sailsbury, and the music is a lot less metal \m/ heheh. See, I also think that some of the stuff that passes through Lloyd's/Wetherspoon's can also be pretty good. It's worth popping in to check them out, even if the place is a bit devoid of any kind of atmosphere.

yeah i was thinking about coming down now that my coursework doesnt have to be in till the 16th december now but i dont feel like alcohol after saturday night. However yeah if theyre's bands on upstairs its still free to get in downstairs, i saw chikinki for free there last year in freshers week and was surprised as it was a free gig but there still wasnt many people there, but then again it wasnt very well advertised.

the salisbury does an awfully good pint of old speckled hen though. harrys is just as far really, although it might be worth checking out. lloyds arent great, they do have some good beers, but i dont think they look after them that well, the one in fallowfield especially. when i have good beer cravings i usually pop down to sainsburys and get a bottle or two. if thats closed, theres always the hydes 18something or other for £1.40 in the friendship. its not great, but better than nothing

i really like that hydes in the friendship actually, and the price is reasonable! Bah, i'm so glad i didn't go near the freshers fair!

dont really like the place much, and its more of a bitter than an ale, but its still hits the spot when i need it. £1.40 is a little more than reasonable though if you ask me! freshers fair wasnt too bad. it got a bit shite after my friends decided to queue for 2 hours for the giroscope thingy, and then after it decided they were too ill to do much. i did warn them, those things make you sick without alcohol inside you! still, i did chat to some random people when they were in the queue, which is always good fun

chikinki did a free gig there last year!!! all we got in freshers week were terrible tributes to greenday and the scissor sisters in the freshers fair This wasnt part of the uni or anything it was a record label thing going around the country. i think it was the week after freshers actually. Our freshers ball consisted of tributes to red hot chili peppers and 2 other tributes that i dont remember. I hated the freshers ball, somehow lost my flatmates and then got a text saying my flatmate had broken his leg...only to get back to see he was fine. All well and good really as it was just so bad. I should have come out tonight but by the time i thought about it was really too late.
