By Kazuo Ishiguro, The Unconsoled is a book that quite literally changed my life. I was once the vocalist/guitarist/songwriter a band that mixed the sheer brutality of System Of A Down with the bluesy groove of Cream...and that band's name was....
...The Unconsoled!
Has anyone read it? If not, why not? I can't give a plot synopsis because there isn't really a plot per se, more like a series of surreal events. It's an infuriating read, you do find yourself questioning your sanity whilst reading, for, amazingly, you can relate to absolutely everything that happens within.
You see, this is a book about dreams. You find yourself thinking, "Oh shit, I've HAD this dream!". It manages to perfectly capture that ethereal state between sleep and conciousness.
The following words are perhaps a bit overused nowadays...
...IT'S A WORK OF GENIUS
...but seriously, it is. There are very few books like this.

I'll keep my eyes open for it. Does it pop up in charity shops much? I'll have to put it on the Christmas list. I'm considering planning this to be my last Christmas, so I might as well enjoy it.
